SERENDIPITY
AKA ‘Inn At Rodanthe’
It is with great pleasure that Vacation Traditions announce our management of the famous Serendipity or ‘Inn At Rodanthe’ as it was dubbed in the 2008 movie starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane based on Nicolas Sparks popular novel “Nights In Rodanthe”.
The storyline draws the viewer into the emotions of a woman, aka Adrienne Willis (Diane Lane), on the verge of divorce who accepts her friend’s invitation to fill in as temporary Inn Keeper while she is away. Hence, a first time guest of the Inn, aka Dr. Paul Flanner (Richard Gere) and Diane become friends, share their life story, fall in love and the rest of the story…well, you’ll have to see it for yourself!
During filming Outer Banks locals vied for the ‘extras’ parts and everyone attempted to get close to the set, hoping to see the actors, however, for obvious reasons those not directly involved could only occasionally glimpse the famous celebrities.
Debuting in September 2008, the movie embraced the majestic natural beauty of Hatteras Island and the focal point of the story, was Serendipity depicted as a unique seaside inn overlooking the great Atlantic which in reality was threatened by coastal storms, erosion and repetitive ocean over wash.
In the spring of 2009, a couple from Newton, NC - extreme fans of the movie, considered purchasing Serendipity and on January 4, 2010, bought it as well as an alternate location out of necessity to protect and preserve it...hence its current location on 23289 E. Beacon Rd. in Rodanthe – only a short distance from its original site.
The house will feature the Inn’s exterior…blue shutters and all and as similarly as possible - the interior as well to emulate the scenes filmed in the movie. Antiques, floral wall paper and fabric, bead board walls and the cozy, unique comfort of a traditional seaside inn will welcome you and offer a once in a lifetime vacation experience. The views? Incredible! It will embody what no other vacation home on the Outer Banks can by the mere fact, it is what it is.
The first level offers the living, dining and kitchen areas with an oceanfront nook, wetbar area and sunken full bath and laundry area. There is an expansive covered deck with hot tub, rocking chairs and Adirondack chairs for your comfort while taking in the beautiful ocean views. The second level offers the infamous blue bedroom decorated to appear as the Richard Gere bedroom with double bed and access to a hall bath. Also on level two is a bedroom with queen bed similar to Diane Lane’s bedroom. Finishing off level two is a bedroom with two single beds and an oceanfront master suite with king bed, private full bath and oceanfront balcony. Venture to the third level to find a den with a double futon, bedroom with king bed, a half bath and a second living level with wet bar, oceanfront balcony and raised oceanfront nook. Also on level three is a full bath which provides access through the bath to the fourth and final level which has been dubbed the ‘honeymoon suite’ with king bed and great views.
Nights In Rodanthe, the book and the movie represent not only a stay on Hatteras Island. It represents second chances, the mending of relationships and most of all love…the love between couples, family and friends.
There is no other place like Serendipity…properly characterized as the ‘Inn At Rodanthe’. The uniqueness, romance, and history, it’s all here waiting for you.
